Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Velen zullen het verhaal van Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf? ondertussen wel kennen: George en Martha leven thuis hun diepste frustraties op elkaar uit en slepen hun nachtelijke gasten, Nick en Honey, mee in een destructief psychologisch spel.

Flor Van Severen, Imke Mol, Mitch Van Landeghem en Naomi van der Horst waagden zich aan dit ‘stuk der stukken’ en rondden er samen hun opleiding aan de toneelschool in Gent mee af. De uitdaging: hoe verhoud je jezelf als jonge speler tot deze oerbrok theatergeschiedenis? Samen met hun personages gaan de spelers het gevecht aan met de waarheid en schijn. Langzaamaan wordt iedereen de fictie in gezogen. Ook in deze uitvoering is één ding zeker: het belooft een lange afterparty te worden, tot het licht wordt. En niemand blijft gespaard.

Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf? Kreeg de Theater aan Zee-jongerenjuryprijs en een eervolle vermelding van de TAZ-jury voor ‘zoveel durf en acteervermogen’. Verder zijn ze ook geselecteerd voor het TheaterFestival 2020. 

Uit het juryrapport van TheaterFestival 2020: Het is indrukwekkend met welke maturiteit deze jonge acteurs zich de iconische rollen van Honey, Nick, George en Martha eigen maken. Aan de hand van een paar intelligente ingrepen voegen ze een bewustzijn toe over wat het betekent om je vandaag, als twintiger, te meten met een klassieke tekst.
